My Father Larry Bergquist won a total of 7 California State Championships, 5 of which were won in different classes. 250 AM, 250 Ex, 500 AM, 500 Ex, and OPEN EX. As Far as I'm aware, No One in the History of Motorcycling has accomplished such a Feat. It may just turn out to be one of those records that is never broken. The cool thing?? I have all the articals for all of them, like the one above. The REALLY COOL THING???? In the above Race Dad saved a fellow competitor's life by breaking off a big piece of Sagebrush, and using it to keep his friend from swallowing his tongue while he was having convulsions until they could get a car out to pick him up and take him to a hospital. Then, Starting from not just DEAD LAST, but WAY WAY DEAD LAST, he went on to win the California State Championship in his Class and finish 5th Overall. I just recently found this artical... and everytime I read it I just go WOW!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL! I'm very grateful to have the artical. and I hope you all enjoy it. Oh yes, not once in his life did Larry ever tell a soul he won his class that day. I must have heard him tell the story about him saving his friends life 50 to 75 times thru-out the years in great, great detail around campfires and at parties and how happy he was that his friend fully recovered and how happy he was when the car finally got there to help and how it seemed like an eternity when he alone out there in the desert with his friend in such bad shape but NEVER ONCE did he mention that he won a California State Championship that day or that he finished 5th overall to a single family member or friend......
