BILL MacKECHNIE, lead guitarist with the post-progrock / world fusion band ANUBIS SPIRE was born on the Isle of Capri where he spent his boyhood pretending to be a curiously shaped outcropping of eroded beach rock. Born into a musical family, he joined their traditional Island steel drum, grind metal touring act (The Ultimate Death Trip Chinese Icebox Jug Band) and spent most of his youth learning the ocarina solo from "Wild Thing" and hosing down unsuspecting tourists. After a brief stint in the Guyanese national guard he emigrated to Lichtenstein where he was officially recognized as "someone who is going to take up too much space" and promptly kicked out of the country. Following a mysterious cryptic prophesy told to him by a wandering shaman, the trade winds (and a map he bought) he eventually ended up in the U.S.A. where in the last few years he has twice won the national X-games (in the extreme interpretive dance category,) been runner-up in the WORLD'S STRONGEST MAN contest and provided endless fascination and voyeristic, prurient interest to various entities with nothing better to do. Following a horrible partial head explosion suffered while screaming at a TV set showing the Glenn Beck show on CNN, Bill must now wear his lucky welder's helmet until he's saved enough for the required surgery to restore his looks to their original Geraldo Rivera-esque manliness. Oh yeah....and Bill's uses RWG guitars. He's shown here with his main axe, an RWG RG5000.
