Neil Fergus 1965. He & Jack Gray owned Honda of Pasadena. Neil campaigned a modified 250 scrambler in desert races. In 1964, at 34 years old, he earned the #1 plate, not only in the 250 class, but was "high point man of the year" Meaning: he earned more points than any other rider, regardless of engine size. He was the first person in AMA District 37 history to do that on a 250cc, and possibly the first person- in the world- (?) to earn a #1 plate in organized off road competition- on a Honda.
